For large parts on Tuesday, it looked like England's luck had finally ran out. Just five days after somehow completing a great escape against Sweden in the quarter-finals, the Lionesses were again on the brink of crashing out of Euro 2025, with just two minutes of added time standing between them and a 1-0 defeat to surprise package Italy. Yet, once more, they came back from it, completing arguably an even more miraculous turnaround as Michelle Agyemang's last-gasp equaliser and Chloe Kelly's winner from the spot – in the penultimate minute of extra time, no less – made England 2-1 victors and sent them into Sunday's European Championship final.

For the most part, it was a frustrating and disappointing watch for fans of the Lionesses, with few chances created either side of a thumping finish from Barbara Bonansea which broke the deadlock in Italy's favour just past the half hour mark. The Azzurre were good for their lead, too, in a performance that suggested much greater experience in this sort of high pressure moment. Were it not for a superb double save from Hannah Hampton in the dying moments of the 90, Italy's place in the final would've been cemented, too.

But England piled the pressure on, battling through adversity and plugging away without some sort of magical spark coming from somewhere, anywhere, hoping that Italy would buckle, that the ball would bounce favourably, that a chance would come and they would take it. It took almost all of the allotted time, but Agyemang was once again ready for her big moment when it arrived, rifling an effort beyond Laura Giuliani to keep the Lionesses alive – just as she had with her equaliser against Sweden.

There was still plenty for England to do, though. Sarina Wiegman had thrown the kitchen sink at Italy with her substitutions and now her strange assortment of players had to adapt, arrange themselves into something of an organised XI and try and find a breakthrough. It looked like it would have to be penalties again, as it was against Sweden, but instead it was just penalty – thanks to Emma Severini's daft challenge on Beth Mead. There was time for one more twist, as Kelly's effort from the spot was saved by Giuliani, but it was the winger, England's hero in extra time back at Euro 2022, who latched onto the rebound, to put her name in lights yet again and send the Lionesses into a third successive major tournament final.

  Hannah Hampton (7/10):

  Made a big double save at the death to keep England's hopes alive, which proved particularly huge after Agyemang's equaliser. It was even more impressive given the little she'd had to do until that point.

  Lucy Bronze (4/10):

  Lapse in concentration proved extremely costly and allowed Bonansea to creep in and break the deadlock. Quite the contrast to her quarter-final heroics.

  Leah Williamson (5/10):

  Best of a bad bunch in defence, though that was a low bar to clear.

  Esme Morgan (4/10):

  Too easily exposed in the build-up to Italy's opener, dragged all over the place by Cantore's movement. A difficult night, with the Azzurre always getting in down England's left.

  Alex Greenwood (4/10):

  Out of position again, Italy made sure to target her side and did so successfully. Quality of her set pieces was inconsistent.

  Keira Walsh (6/10):

  A more front-footed approach than usual led to her being one of the players who really tried to spark England into life, with some good runs, incisive passes and a few efforts at goal.

  Georgia Stanway (4/10):

  Battled well, winning plenty of her duels, but was wasteful in possession.

  Ella Toone (4/10):

  Had good spells where she looked likely to make something happened, albeit not for sustained periods.

  Lauren James (4/10):

  Looked a little leggy and flat here, with it no surprise to see her go off with a knock at half time. Had one of England's best chances of the first 45 minutes, but opted to place the shot and it was well read by Giuliani.

  Alessia Russo (4/10):

  Had one decent chance in the first half but couldn't quite wrap her foot around the ball to direct the shot on target. Otherwise, lacked service – again.

  Lauren Hemp (5/10):

  Ebbed and flowed throughout the game, starting and finishing well. Teasing cross led to the all-important equaliser.

  Did well to stay onside with her run towards Hemp's cross, which discombobulated Giuliani and led to Agyemang's equaliser. Showed great experience to settle centrally in a mishmash of an XI in extra time, too.

  Honoured her defensive duties well and was good on the ball, though her final product was inconsistent. Poor penalty, but great reactions.

  Michelle Agyemang (8/10):

  Came to England's rescue yet again with a remarkable composed finish at the death. Was so close to winning it in extra time, too, but for the woodwork.

  Aggie Beever-Jones (6/10):

  Worked hard and gave Italy something else to think about as England went to two up top.

  Brought necessary energy to midfield in extra time.

  On at the death to seal the win.

  Didn't learn her lesson from the near-miss against Sweden, where hesitancy with subs almost cost her team. The wait to react almost proved decisive again here, but her subs did come through and deliver in the end. Would be naive to believe she can be that passive in Sunday's final.

نشر الحساب الرسمي لنادي ليفربول لكرة القدم، عبر موقع إكس، مقطع فيديو لنجمي الفريق محمد صلاح وفيرجيل فان دايك، خلال خضعوعهما لمسابقة معلومات سريعة.

وبدأ ليفربول مشواره في الموسم الجديد من بطولة الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز، 2025/26، يوم الجمعة الماضي حيث فاز على بورنموث بأربعة أهداف مقابل هدفين.

ويستعد ليفربول لخوض مباراته الثانية في بطولة الدوري الإنجليزي، يوم الإثنين المقبل على ملعب “سانت جيمس بارك” وذلك ضد نظيره نيوكاسل يونايتد.

وسُئل محمد صلاح وفان دايك عمن قدم للآخر أسيستات أكثر من الثاني، حيث يُعد المصري الأكثر بعدما صنع للآخر 3 أهداف، في حين صنع الهولندي للنجم صاحب الـ33 عامًا، مرتين.

فيما كان السؤال الثاني عمن خاض دقائق أكثر من الآخر، خلال الموسم الماضي من الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز.

ورد فان دايك أنه لم يخض مباراة ليفربول وبرايتون الموسم الماضي في الدوري الإنجليزي، وهو الأمر الذي منح الأفضلية لـ محمد صلاح، الذي رد مازحًا بأن المدرب آرني سلوت استبدله في اللقاء نفسه (في الدقيقة 91).

وكانت الإجابة الصحيحة هي محمد صلاح، الذي خاض 3380 دقيقة في موسم الدوري الإنجليزي الماضي، مقابل 3330 دقيقة لـ فان دايك، ورد المصري ضاحكًا: “شكرًا أيها المدرب”.

أما عن اللاعب الذي ظهر أكثر في الدوري الإنجليزي، مقارنة بالثاني، بشكل عام، حيث تساوى محمد صلاح وفان دايك بواقع 302 مباراة لكل منهما.

وفيما يخص أكثر من لديه منشورات عبر موقع إنستجرام في 2025، حيث تساوى الاثنين كذلك بواقع 56 منشورًا، رغم أن محمد صلاح كان يلجأ إلى نشر صور سيلفي كثيرًا بعد الفوز بالمباريات.

وعن اللاعب الأكثر تواجدًا في تشكيل الموسم من جانب رابطة اللاعبين المحترفين، كان فان دايك بواقع 5 مرات، مقابل 4 مرات لـ محمد صلاح.

وعلى صعيد المقارنة بين اللاعب الأكثر صناعة للأهداف والذي حافظ على نظافة شباكه، في الموسم الماضي من الدوري الإنجليزي، كانت الأفضلية لـ محمد صلاح بواقع 18 أسيست، في حين أن فان دايك كانت لديه 14 مرة حفاظًا على الشباك.

أما اللاعب الذي مثّل عدد أندية أكثر من الآخر، فهو محمد صلاح بواقع 6 فرق (المقاولون، بازل، تشيلسي، فيورنتينا، روما وليفربول)، مقابل 4 لـ فان دايك.

  According to Calcio Mercato, Roma have made progress in talks to bring the 20-year-old striker to Serie A on loan. Brighton are reportedly open to letting the Irishman leave, but are yet to receive approval from the striker himself. The Italian club has reportedly started initial contacts with the English club and is keen to get Ferguson on board.

  Once dubbed “the next Harry Kane,” Ferguson was flying high at Brighton. The young Irish striker, at one point, was even valued at a staggering £100 million after a breakout season with the club in 2023.

  But fast forward to 2025, and Ferguson no longer appears to be in Brighton’s plans for next season. Injuries and a disappointing loan spell at West Ham, where he made only eight appearances, have cast serious doubt over his future on the south coast.

  At Roma, new manager Gian Piero Gasperini is looking to add more firepower in front, and the Italian front office feels Ferguson could fill a crucial backup role. Chelsea and Everton have also been linked with the striker, but Roma now appear to be the frontrunners.

  WHAT NEXT FOR BRIGHTON?

  With Joao Pedro departing and Evan Ferguson expected to head out on another loan, Brighton will now actively look for fresh attacking options. One name that has recently emerged is Rodolfo Aloko, an 18-year-old attacking midfielder currently playing for Croatian side NK Kustosija. According to the Daily Mail, Aloko is valued at around £4.75 million, and Brighton are keeping a close eye on his progress.

After completing a move to Bundesliga in the 2024-25 winter transfer window from Ajax, Ramaj was loaned out immediately to Danish club Copenhagen. The German's loan spell worked wonders for both the player and club as they went on to complete the double, winning the league title and Danish Cup. Now, with his loan spell ending, he has voiced his opinion on his future making it clear that he wants regular football.

WHAT DIANT RAMAJ SAID

The shot stopper said: "I really enjoyed the season in Copenhagen; what we've achieved is fantastic. And one thing's clear to me: I have to keep playing, get minutes, and match practice. Therefore, one thing's clear to me: I'm not sitting on the bench in Dortmund! It's clear to me that I won't be coming to Dortmund to line up at the back, that I have no chance of playing behind Gregor Kobel. I have to play."

He added: "I said I'm the best goalkeeper of the young generation. And I think I've proven that in the past few months!"

Arsenal have held talks with a former Chelsea and Liverpool man to come in as Sporting Director, according to a new report.

A number of candidates have been linked with arriving in north London, and in recent weeks, Andrea Berta, who left his position at Atletico Madrid at the beginning of the year, has been heavily mooted to make the move to Arsenal to replace Edu.

The 44-year-old, who made 25 appearances for the Gunners in 2011/12 but is best known for his spells with Liverpool and West Ham, retired from football in 2019 and has gained boardroom experience with Beitar Jerusalem and national side Israel.

Talking to Football Insider, Benayoun said: “Of course I would be interested in a sporting director role in England, but I am also a pro licensed coach. Let’s see what comes up.”
