Sky Sports: Leeds in contact to sign expensive £50k-p/w ace who Farke loves

Leeds United are interested in signing a “great” new player this summer and have already made contact, according to one Sky Sports reporter.

Leeds preparing for Oxford with Championship promotion a real possibility

The Whites have just four Championship fixtures remaining and are currently top of the table on goal difference ahead of Burnley.

More importantly, though, the gap to third place Sheffield United now sits at five points with the Blades losing their last three games against Oxford United, Millwall and Plymouth Argyle. Leeds still have to travel to both Oxford and Plymouth, with a clash with the former up next on Good Friday.

A third win in a row for Daniel Farke’s side will see them need a maximum of four more points to guarantee promotion, with the manager looking for his side to be more ruthless in front of goal after the 2-1 win over Preston North End last time out.

“It feels pretty good after an exhausting week with three difficult games. It was a priceless three points for us. It was a really good performance and we could have made life easier by taking a few of our chances, it must have been one of our highest expected goals of the season. We should have scored six or seven.”

Joel Piroe is currently without a goal in his last eight Championship games, however, with Leeds close to promotion, transfer targets are being identified.

The club are unsure if Piroe and Patrick Bamford are Premier League quality, but someone who the Whites do like is a Germany international who plays in midfield.

Leeds in contact to sign Borussia Monchengladbach captain Weigl – Sky Sports

According to Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg, Leeds have made initial contact over a deal to sign Borussia Monchengladbach captain Julian Weigl.

Weigl earns a minimum of £50,000-a-week in Germany and has worked under Farke before, with the pair still having a “good relationship”.

The 29-year-old, who can play as a holding midfielder, central midfielder or even as a centre-back, would only move to Elland Road if Premier League football is on offer, Plettenberg adds.

Reports elsewhere from Sky Germany have said it would be an “expensive deal” for the Whites to sign Weigl, who Farke praised back in 2023.

“Julian is a great footballer and person. He could enrich many teams with his qualities.”

Now, it looks as if a reunion between the pair could be on the cards, making this one to keep an eye on.

Celtic want to sign versatile England youth international in summer bargain

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is drawing up his shortlist of potential summer targets and is now looking to beat rivals Rangers to the signature of a talented England youth international, per a report.

Celtic look to shape their squad ahead of next season

The Bhoys are closing in on the Scottish Premiership title and know that only a point is needed in their next league fixture against Dundee United to cement their achievement.

Of course, the opportunity to take another step towards winning a domestic treble is also firmly in sight as St Johnstone stand between Celtic and a place in the Scottish Cup final.

Nevertheless, individuals connected with the reigning champions are already looking ahead to the summer window. Next campaign will see the return of Champions League qualifiers, so expect plenty of business to be done early doors involving incomings and outgoings.

Celtic’s recent interest in Stoke City star Million Manhoef has made headlines, but his £10 million price-tag alongside competition from Sheffield United, Burnley, Genk and Club Brugge may throw up a couple of obstacles.

On the same token, the Bhoys’ search for attackers could lead to West Ham United striker Danny Ings. His £125,000 per week wages would likely need to drop significantly, though he is set to be a free agent once the window opens.

Celtic want "tricky" £3 million star who Rodgers has personally sought out

Celtic could land an exciting summer signing.

BySean Markus Clifford Apr 14, 2025

Financially, Celtic find themselves in rude health and are expected to splash the cash once again, though there is always an eye for a bargain at Parkhead should circumstances align.

Tapping into that school of thought, the Hoops are now in a race with several competitors to bring in a Premier League starlet that could be on the move.

Celtic look to strike deal for Crystal Palace starlet Jesse Derry

According to Football Insider, Celtic want to sign Crystal Palace youngster Jesse Derry this summer following news that he has rejected the offer of a professional contract at Selhurst Park.

Rangers are also in the hunt for the England youth international, while Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus have all scouted the 17-year-old across the last few months.

Predominantly a winger, Derry is capable of playing on either flank, through the middle or as the creative foil for the main striker, illustrating his versatility which has been praised by analyst Ben Mattinson.

Available for a minimal compensation fee, he is said to be open to a move abroad after coming through the ranks at Crystal Palace, who now appear powerless in their attempts to retain the starlet.

Celtic have an excellent record when it comes to cherrypicking developing talent on the market, but it remains to be seen whether Derry would be offered first-team opportunities in the event he ends up at Parkhead.

Either way, supporters can take encouragement from the fact that movement seems to be taking place behind the scenes ahead of the summer window.

Old Dutch hand Matthew Mott chasing success against Orange to avoid being red-faced

England head coach’s time in Netherlands might have given him his first taste of mentoring a cricket team. Now he comes up against his old side with his future in this role under a cloud

Matt Roller07-Nov-20232:05

Harmison: Batting looking like hard work for England

Four times at this World Cup, a coach has come up against – and beaten – a team that they used to represent as a player: Jonathan Trott (Afghanistan) and Chris Silverwood (Sri Lanka) against England, Grant Bradburn (Pakistan) against New Zealand, and Chandika Hathurusinghe (Bangladesh) against Sri Lanka.Matthew Mott, England’s coach, will hope to extend the streak on Wednesday in Pune. His adopted side face Netherlands with Champions Trophy qualification on the line and Mott’s position under scrutiny: he is 18 months into a four-year contract, but a seventh defeat in eight games would put him under real pressure.Mott is as Australian as they come: he grew up on the Gold Coast and made more than 3,500 runs across a decade-long Sheffield Shield career for Queensland and Victoria. Yet he also played professionally for a third team: Netherlands, who he represented for two List A games as an overseas player.Related

Long before the days of franchise cricket sustaining players through the off-season, Mott spent several years playing in the Lancashire League, but in 2003, he went off the beaten track and joined Excelsior ’20 in Rotterdam. Most clubs had an overseas player: a young Grant Elliott pipped Mott to the honour of being the Hoofdklasse’s leading run-scorer.Mott enjoyed it enough that he recommended a Gold Coast team-mate named Brett Crichton to Voorburg CC for the following summer. “It meant we had a free overseas player for a year,” recalled Tim de Leede, who represented Netherlands at three different World Cups and whose son, Bas, will feature on Wednesday. “We used to be a very small club, so we were very, very happy.”Matthew Mott and Jos Buttler have a tough job of helping England qualify for the Champions Trophy•Gareth Copley-ICC/Getty ImagesTowards the end of the season, Mott was asked to play in the preliminary round of the following season’s Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy, county cricket’s 50-over knockout competition. On debut for the Dutch, he scored 45 not out in a win over Cornwall to set up a fixture against Gloucestershire; he returned the following summer for it, taking two wickets and then making 41 in a heavy defeat.De Leede, who played alongside Mott in both games, believes that his coaching aspirations may have started that summer. “As an overseas player in the Netherlands, you have to start coaching at your club – seniors and kids. Maybe it started then and he liked it?”Mott referenced his time in the Netherlands during his first interaction with the media in the England job last summer. “I did play cricket many years ago,” he said, looking out over the VRA ground in Amstelveen. “Looking at this ground, it’s come on leaps and bounds.”It was an idyllic way for Mott to start with England: a three-match series in the baking sunshine, with thousands of travelling supporters drinking Amstelveen dry. They racked up a world-record total of 498 in the first ODI and won the series 3-0 while hardly breaking a sweat.Jos Buttler made 162 in the first game – 56 runs more than he has managed across seven innings at this World Cup – and took over from Eoin Morgan as captain straight after that tour. His partnership with Mott brought immediate success in the form of last year’s T20 World Cup in Australia.3:09

Hopkinson: England struggled with executing under pressure

But England’s defence of their 50-over crown has been a mess, with Saturday’s 33-run defeat to Australia in Ahmedabad representing their second-best result. They will need at least one win and possibly two to finish in the top eight and seal a spot in the 2025 Champions Trophy; failure to do so will leave Mott vulnerable. He has found himself under growing pressure as this World Cup has worn on, not helped by Morgan’s suggestion that there is “something else going on” than simply players being out of form collectively. Mott pushed back against those comments and while some react better to defeats than others, there has not been any obvious rift in the squad.Instead, the sense is that England are a team bereft of confidence, without the relevant experience and muscle memory of recent ODI success that helped them get through the setbacks they encountered on home soil four years ago. Mott’s task is to revitalise a group that has played together so often, but will never again.Rob Key, England’s managing director of men’s cricket, will return to India this week and will rejoin the team in Kolkata ahead of Saturday’s fixture against Pakistan. Key holds Mott’s future in his hands but was also ultimately responsible for appointing him; sacking him so early into his tenure would not reflect well on his judgement. There is a simple route for England to quieten talk about Mott’s position: to win on Wednesday, and win well. If Mott’s brief time in Dutch orange was a success, failure in Pune would leave him red-faced.

Bhuvneshwar and Malik, the yin and yang of Sunrisers' attack

Unrivalled experience and searing pace combined to deadly effect to derail the Punjab Kings innings

Nagraj Gollapudi17-Apr-20224:15

Sanjay Manjrekar: Umran Malik has been ‘allowed to blossom’ at SRH

Bhuvneshwar Kumar returned for his second spell with four overs remaining in the Punjab Kings innings. At 132 for 4 Punjab may have imagined they could get a minimum of 40-50 runs off the last 24 deliveries with the power-hitting muscle of Liam Livingstone and Shahrukh Khan well settled at the crease.Bhuvneshwar ran in and banged the first ball just short of a length, running his first two fingers down the side of the seam to deliver a slow cutter that Shahrukh failed to read. Perhaps over-eager in his effort to smack the ball over long-off, he ended up reaching for the ball and slicing it, and it ballooned to Kane Williamson at cover.Bhuvneshwar would give away only two runs in the rest of the over, leaving Livingstone and Odean Smith frustrated.Returning to deliver the penultimate over of Punjab’s innings, Bhuvneshwar suffered a rare moment of punishment against a pretty good ball, as Smith manufactured the room and power to flat-bat a cramping short ball back over the bowler’s head for six. But Bhuvneshwar wasn’t going to let that shot make him veer from his plan of bowling a hard length with variations of pace. The final ball was another short-of-a-length legcutter, and Livingstone, just like Shahrukh, got sucked into a mis-controlled shot while reaching for the ball, and Williamson pouched a lovely low catch, completing it with both hands while falling forward.Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked up 3 for 22 in his four overs•BCCIAt the beginning of the 17th over, ESPNcricinfo’s forecaster projected that Punjab would reach a total of 172. By the start of the 20th, it had come down to 162. Eventually Punjab were bowled out for 151, which their stand-in captain Shikhar Dhawan would later say was easily 30-40 runs short of a defendable total.Dhawan had also fallen into Bhuvneshwar’s trap during his first spell with the new ball. Dhawan had shown an eagerness to charge out of his crease during Bhuvneshwar’s first over, even doing so immediately after being hit in the box. Seeing him step out again in his second over, Bhuvneshwar pulled his length back, and Dhawan went through with his shot without really being in the position for it and found the fielder at mid-on. After three overs, of which Bhuvneshwar had delivered two, Punjab were 13 or 1. It would play a part in Punjab making their second-lowest Powerplay score (48 for 2) this season.Speaking to after the win on Sunday, Bhuvneshwar said that he figured out as soon as he had bowled his first ball that there would be no swing on offer. So he shifted to bowling back of a length and trying to get whatever he could out of a pitch that gripped and also offered extra bounce. He went on to explain the thinking behind the Dhawan wicket. “I knew that generally that’s how he [Dhawan] approaches to [attack] me,” Bhuvneshwar said. “I knew that he was going to step out and look for the boundaries, but I just wanted to hit the hard lengths just to see if there could be any top edge. And luckily that happened.”I always try to bowl to the batsman’s weakness, or [it] depends on the ground’s dimensions, where I can look to tuck them up. It’s a basic and simple thing for me – go with the batsman’s weakness or my strength – and depending on the wicket as well; if I can bowl the slower [ball] or bouncer or yorker. These are the little things I look to do.”The Dhawan wicket made Bhuvneshwar the highest wicket-taker in the powerplay in IPL history, moving above Zaheer Khan.If Bhuvneshwar is the yin of this enviable Sunrisers fast-bowling attack, Umran Malik is the yang. Only Lockie Ferguson matches Malik in the IPL when it comes to hitting the 150kph mark consistently.Malik, a raw diamond from Jammu, was unearthed by Sunrisers in IPL 2021 and retained before the 2022 auction. He has dazzled in nearly every match and even left the great Dale Steyn, the fast-bowling coach at Sunrisers, gobsmacked after delivering a stunning 140kph yorker to rattle back the stumps of Knight Riders captain Shreyas Iyer. After that match, Sunrisers’ director of cricket Tom Moody said the franchise had given Malik the freedom to express himself, with the understanding that while his searing pace might occasionally leak runs – especially behind the wicket – it would always be a wicket-taking threat. It was always going to be a engrossing battle between Malik against Punjab, a team that has shown an uncompromising attitude of trying to attack every ball and every bowler no matter what the match situation may be.Umran Malik ended the Punjab Kings innings with a triple-wicket maiden•BCCIMalik came into the attack to bowl the second over after the powerplay. Jitesh Sharma utilised the pace and the width of the first ball to pick up a slashed four. Malik then went fuller for the next four balls, missed his length off one of them, and Jitesh flicked him for another four.Malik decided to change his plan for the next ball at the behest of his captain Kane Williamson. The first part of the plan was to change the field and have three fielders behind square on the off side. Fine leg was inside the circle. Malik steamed in to bang a 148 kph delivery short of a length. The ball kicked up quickly into Jitesh, who sent a hurried pull ballooning straight up, and Malik grabbed the catch in his follow-through.The blazing pace at which Malik bowls makes every ball a spectacle. When it fails, he can get carted for runs – today Livingstone uppercut and pulled him for sixes when his short ball ended up less than ideally directed. But when it works it can send the stumps flying, as Malik did twice against the Punjab lower order and tail, grabbing three wickets in the final over of the innings, which was also a maiden.Asked whether he found it helpful to have Malik bowl at the other end, Bhuvneshwar cracked an impromptu joke. “I don’t think it helps; I think somewhere batsmen think: ‘look, he [Bhuvneshwar] bowls slow. So go after him.’ But looking at him, it always gives you joy that somebody is scaring batsmen and getting wickets like that. It’s always a joy to watch him. Hopefully, I get wickets [if batters go after him instead].”Malik won the Player-of-the-Match award, but he was fourth on ESPNcricinfo’s list of Most Valuable Players (MVPs), which is calculated using the Smart Stats algorithm that works out each player’s impact. Bhuvneshwar was second behind Livingstone. In different ways Bhuvneshwar and Malik bossed Punjab, bowling intellect and ferocious pace combining in a most lethal manner.

Yankees SS Anthony Volpe Underwent Surgery After New York's Playoff Elimination

About a week after the Yankees were eliminated from the MLB playoffs by the Blue Jays, New York shortstop Anthony Volpe underwent surgery on Tuesday to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder, the ' Joel Sherman and Greg Joyce reported on Wednesday.

Volpe suffered the injury back in May when making a diving play. He only missed one game, the day after the injury, and quickly returned to the field.

The Gold Glove winner is expected to be recovered in time for the 2026 season, although his return could be pushed back depending how his recovery goes.

Volpe had a rough end of the regular season as he was briefly benched while going through quite a slump. The shortstop ended the season with averages of .212/.272/.391, pretty on par with the rest of his young career. He'll have a lot of pressure on him when he returns in 2026 to up his game.

'It's not true' – Mo Salah told bombshell interview 'doesn't stack up' as Liverpool star criticised for 'emotional response'

Mohamed Salah has been told his complaints that Liverpool have "thrown him under the bus" after another first-team omission "don't stack up". The Egypt international dropped a bombshell interview after his side's 3-3 draw with Leeds United on Saturday, throwing his Anfield future into question. Now, ex-Reds ace Danny Murphy has criticised the 33-year-old for his "emotional response".

Salah in another remarkable interview

Just over a year ago, Salah shocked the footballing world when he said he was "probably more out than in" as his contract ticked towards its final six months. The former Chelsea man eventually signed a new two-year deal earlier this year but it hasn't taken long for him to be back in the headlines. Not long after Liverpool's thrilling draw at Elland Road, Salah said it is "very clear" someone wants him to "get all of the blame", that the club has "thrown him under the bus" and that this situation was unacceptable. Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has slammed his outburst and now ex-England international Murphy has weighed in on the matter.

AdvertisementAFP'It's not true'

Murphy made it clear he didn't give much credence to Salah's claims and that this was something said in the heat of the moment.

He said on BBC's Match of the Day: "We know that’s an emotional response and doesn’t really stack up. Everyone has to keep fighting for their place and performing at a certain level. I don’t think he’s [Salah] on his own. I think there are a lot of other big-name players starting to get stick and get the fanbase turning a little bit against them. Everyone’s getting judged."

The former Fulham player also doesn't believe that Salah is unfairly being singled out, particularly as lots of his team-mates are being criticised for their performances as well. He added that this is not how a top professional conducts himself.

"It’s not true, it’s not true. I think you can be emotional and you can be angry and frustrated, he’s done wonderful things for the football club. [But] you have to keep it in the four walls of the club," Murphy said. "Knock on the manager’s door, go and see the CEO, whoever it is, go and see the owners, do whatever you’ve got to do, express your frustration. He’s causing the team a problem and the manager a problem. And he’s making it all about him. And you just can’t do it. Whether you agree with him being left out or not you don’t deal with it like this."

Slot on Salah omission

For the second time in three Premier League outings, Salah was an unused substitute for Liverpool, who sit eighth in the table. The defending champions are 10 points behind table-toppers Arsenal, with Arne Slot's side looking almost unrecognisable from the team that romped to the league title last term.

When asked why Salah did not come off the bench, manager Slot said: "It was more about controlling the game at [3-2 to Liverpool] and we didn't need a goal. Normally, when you need a goal, like last week against Sunderland, I brought Mo on."

Not long after, Salah – who scored 29 goals and added 18 assists in the league last season but this campaign he has just four goals and two assists – would say he no longer had a relationship with the Dutchman.

It remains to be seen what Slot will say about Salah's outburst and if he will start against Inter Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday. The Reds then take on Brighton next weekend, which will be Salah's last match before heading off to the Africa Cup of Nations with Egypt. So, does the veteran have a future at Anfield? Murphy thinks so.

"I do think he will [play again]," he said. "I think he'll have time to settle down. Everyone will want a legend like Salah to go on good terms with a wonderful send-off, maybe at the end of the season as great players have had in the past. I hope it doesn't end badly because of everything he's given but there's always a chance if he's adamant. Liverpool are in charge of what happens because they have got his contract. But if he's adamant he wants to leave, maybe we'll see something in January."

Rodrygo breaks silence on Real Madrid future with Tottenham ready to pay club-record fee

Real Madrid forward Rodrygo has been at the centre of reports that he could leave the Bernabeu mid-season following a lack of game time under Xabi Alonso, and Tottenham are believed to be among the contenders for his signature.

Rodrygo finds himself at a career crossroads as his situation at Madrid continues to deteriorate.

The Brazilian, once considered a crucial part of Los Blancos’ attacking plans, has seen his role dramatically diminish since Alonso’s appointment, sparking widespread speculation about a potential January departure.

Rodrygo has played just 359 minutes this season, having started just two out of a possible 10 La Liga games, and is firmly behind Vinícius Júnior in the pecking order for his preferred left-wing position.

The 24-year-old, who was regularly linked with a summer exit, including to Spurs, has struggled for opportunities despite his previous contributions to the club’s success.

ESPN Brasil have backed up the possibility that Rodrygo could leave in January, stating that the ex-Santos sensation is “dissatisfied with his situation” and “maintains the option” of leaving as early as the next transfer window.

This has put a host of Premier League sides on alert, including Tottenham once again, and there are suggestions that the north Londoners could go all out for his signature.

Now backed by the Lewis family as they attempt to usher in a post-Daniel Levy era, the club, led by co-sporting directors Fabio Paratici and Johan Lange are apparently prepared to pay a club-record £70 million for Rodrygo, according to reports from Spain.

The £283,000-per-week star would be a statement signing for the Lilywhites, and reports suggest that Real are prepared to slash his asking price from their original £88 million summer valuation down to around £53 million, amid rival interest from Arsenal and Chelsea (TEAMtalk).

This means that Spurs’ mooted £70m stance would be more than enough, but none of this means anything without the player’s approval.

Indeed, Rodrygo has now moved to speak out about his Madrid future, attempting to quell the noise surrounding his unrest in the Spanish capital.

Rodrygo breaks silence on Real Madrid future amid Tottenham interest

Speaking to the media, Rodrygo has hinted at his unhappiness surrounding game time right now, but also suggests he has no fears when it comes to inclusion in Brazil’s 2026 World Cup squad.

While the attacker appears to be presenting the front of ‘I’ll work hard for the manager’, behind-the-scenes whispers tell a different story, and we wouldn’t at all be surprised if a Premier League club manages to tempt him across the channel.

Meanwhile, football finance expert Stefan Borson is convinced that Tottenham could sign Rodrygo on loan.

Tottenham take on Arsenal in a mouth-watering North London derby clash this weekend, with all eyes on that and the looming January window as Frank looks to put his stamp on the squad.

Konstas, Peake, McSweeney named in Australia A squad for India tour

Ashes hopefuls Weatherald, Harris, Bancroft, Renshaw not included as the squad is a look towards the 2027 Test tour of India, with Connolly, Murphy and Rocchiccioli included as spinners

Sam Konstas’ bid to retain his Test place this summer will begin in India as he was named in the 14-man Australia A squad that will play India A in two red-ball four-day matches in Lucknow in September, albeit the squad has been selected with an eye towards Australia’s 2027 Test tour rather than the upcoming Ashes.Konstas was named alongside fellow Test opening candidate Nathan McSweeney and fellow teenager Oliver Peake in the squad. Promising Victoria opener Campbell Kellaway was also included among the batting group. Jake Weatherald, Jason Sangha and Kurtis Patterson, who all featured and performed well in the recent Australia A series against Sri Lanka A, were not included.Australian openers with previous Test experience, Marcus Harris, Cameron Bancroft and Matt Renshaw, were also not included in the squad. Renshaw has been on two Test tours to India previously while Bancroft has previously toured India with Australia A including making 150 in an unofficial Test in Chennai in 2015 against an India A team that featured nine Indian Test players.Related

Konstas will play for Australia again, but will he play the Ashes this year?

It is highly unlikely that performances in India against India A in September will have any bearing on Ashes selection with the national selectors already on record saying that the first three Sheffield Shield rounds will be of most relevance. The squad has clearly been selected with a longer-term view of giving younger players experience in Indian conditions with Australia due to tour there for a five-match Test series in January-February of 2027, when the composition of Australia’s top six may look slightly different with Usman Khawaja very unlikely to still be playing by that point while Steven Smith turns 38 in June 2027.”The subcontinent provides many unique challenges and the opportunity to utilise different skills with bat and ball,” chairman of selectors George Bailey said.”We hope repeated experiences in these conditions will assist players in developing an effective method and understanding of their game for future sub-continent tours.”Test offspinner Todd Murphy was included in the squad having taken 14 wickets in four Tests in India in 2023, including a seven on Test debut in Nagpur. Fellow offspinner Corey Rocchiccioli will also get a chance to impress having been to the MRF Academy last year and played for Australia A previously. Both men missed the recent series against Sri Lanka A due to short-term stints in county cricket in England.Left-arm-spinning allrounder Cooper Connolly, who made his Test debut in Sri Lanka earlier this year, will get the chance to gain some valuable subcontinent experience. CA contracted fast bowlers Lance Morris and Xavier Bartlett were picked as was the Shield’s leading wicket-taker in Fergus O’Neill. Josh Philippe was included as the sole wicketkeeper in the four-day squad.Connolly, Murphy, Hardie, Edwards and Scott will stay on for the three 50-over matches but Bartlett, Kellaway, Konstas, McSweeney, Morris, O’Neill, Peake, Philippe and Rocchiccioli will play in the four-day matches in Lucknow only before returning to Australia for the first Shield round that starts on October 4.”For many of these players we remain interested in the development of their short-form cricket as well, but balancing out priorities meant we wanted them back and available for the start of the Sheffield Shield season,” Bailey said.”This provides opportunities for Harry Dixon, Sam Elliott, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Mackenzie Harvey, Tanveer Sangha, Lachie Shaw, Tom Straker, Will Sutherland and Callum Vidler who will play the one-day matches in Kanpur.”Fraser-McGurk was included after losing his place in Australia’s ODI squad and he could well get the chance to keep wicket for the first time in his List A career with Shaw the only other wicketkeeper named in the white-ball squad. Fraser-McGurk is being developed as a back-up wicketkeeper for the T20I team having worked on his keeping with Australia’s fielding/keeping coach Andre Borovec on recent tours.Captains have yet to be named but there are a host of options given three state captains in McSweeney, Edwards and Sutherland will tour while Hardie has also previously led Australia A in a first-class game in New Zealand and captained Perth Scorchers.Australia A four-day squadXavier Bartlett, Cooper Connolly, Jack Edwards, Aaron Hardie, Campbell Kellaway, Sam Konstas, Nathan McSweeney, Lance Morris, Todd Murphy, Fergus O’Neill, Oliver Peake, Josh Philippe, Corey Rocchiccioli, Liam ScottAustralia A one-day squadCooper Connolly, Harry Dixon, Jack Edwards, Sam Elliott, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Aaron Hardie, Mackenzie Harvey, Todd Murphy, Tanveer Sangha, Liam Scott, Lachie Shaw, Tom Straker, Will Sutherland, Callum Vidler
