Aarons and Godfrey respond to Bogle’s summer Instagram snap

[ad_pod ]

It’s been a long season for Derby County and even though the last step was not as successful as they would’ve liked, Frank Lampard can be happy with what he has achieved there.

Jayden Bogle was a big part of it, playing a total of 40 games throughout the campaign, even scoring twice and assisting nine goals in the process.

Now, however, Bogle is enjoying his long-awaited holiday at the seaside and his latest Instagram snap has him riding a jet ski, which was, of course, soon enough noticed by some of his fellow rivals and friends.

Max Aarons and Ben Godfrey, both Norwich players and Bogle’s direct rivals, were first to commend the 18-year-old for a rather cool snap and both were there to show support with a series of emojis directed at Derby’s star.

Bogle will be looking to replicate and even improve on the results of last year and if Lampard does end up staying, which is definitely uncertain at the moment, they can always dream of a potential step up.

Landing Perisic would go against one of Leicester’s key philosophies

[ad_pod ]

Per a report from Tutto Mercato Web, Leicester are interested in pursuing World Cup finalist Ivan Perisic this summer.

What’s the word?

As the Foxes gear up for an assault on Wolves and seventh place next season, signing wingers looks to be a key priority.

In recent weeks Andros Townsend has been the subject of interest, whilst Bertrand Traore has also been in the conversation.

The latest name to attract their attention is the vastly experienced Perisic, who is currently playing for Inter Milan in Serie A.

Tutto Mercato Web claim that the Croatian’s time with the Nerazzurri is unlikely to continue and as a result, Leicester could be his next destination.

No fee is mentioned but Transfermarkt rate the player at a considerable £27m.

Leicester philosophy would go up in smoke

There is no doubting Perisic’s quality. After all, the winger has been one of the most consistent players in that area of the pitch in Europe for a while now.

He was a star for Croatia as they reached the World Cup final last year but his potential signing would go against everything Leicester are building towards.

At 30 years of age, he doesn’t fit the type of profile that the Foxes have been moulding their squad around.

Although experience could be crucial, it would go against one of their major philosophies; developing youth.

The club have a number of young stars coming through at the moment and if Perisic does arrive it would put one of them in considerable danger.

Harvey Barnes featured regularly on the left-hand side once he returned from a loan spell with West Brom but despite not finding his best form, he’s a player that simply has to play next season.

Attaining regular minutes wouldn’t be possible though if the club brought the Inter man to the King Power.

Given the fact it appears as though Leicester are planning for the future, signing Perisic should be forgotten about.

"No thanks" – Arsenal fans disagree with Lauren on Alexis Sanchez returning

[ad_pod ]

Over the years Arsenal fans have had to endure watching some of their finest players leave the club for their greatest rivals.

The likes of Robin van Persie, Samir Nasri, Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Adebayor all left the Gunners in pursuit of more ambitious ventures with the North London club constantly having to rebuild and reorganise after such high profile departures.

The latest to leave in this manner was Alexis Sanchez, who signed for Manchester United in January 2018.

Rumours of Sanchez’s desire to leave the club had been circling for months after a collapsed move to Manchester City saw him stay at Arsenal for a further five months before he eventually made his move to Old Trafford.

The Chilean has had a torrid time in Manchester, struggling to make any impact in a team that’s been in decline under both Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer despite a few months of improvement with the Norwegian at the helm.

Sanchez may move again this summer and former Arsenal invincible Lauren has been quoted as saying that the Chilean can still have an impact in North London if he were to return one day. But despite the comments coming from a club icon, Gunners fans haven’t welcomed the idea of re-signing their ex-star.

Middlesbrough: Steve Gibson should splash the cash on Jamal Lowe this summer

Although Middlesbrough’s season may have come to an end on May 5th, there has been plenty of action for the club’s supporters to keep up with off of the field.

Following a disappointing Championship campaign which saw the Smoggies miss out on the play-offs to Derby County on the final day, Tony Pulis agreed to part ways with the club last Friday after holding talks with chairman Steve Gibson.

With the club understandably needing to prioritise bringing in a new manager this summer, it would be understandable if any possible transfer activity is put on the back-burner over the coming weeks.

However, it is clear that regardless of who is in charge at the Riverside Stadium next year, Boro should try everything to bring in one of the brightest young talents in the third tier.

According to the Daily Star, the Smoggies are one of a number of clubs who are reportedly interested in Portsmouth winger Jamal Lowe.

A fantastic player, the 24-year-old enjoyed a superb campaign for Pompey as his 15 goals and nine assists in League One propelled the club to a fourth-place finish.

Although he was unable to inspire the club to play-off success over Sunderland last Thursday, Lowe is clearly capable of making the step up to the Championship and could prove to be an incredible signing for Boro.

With both Stewart Downing and Marcus Tavernier failing to provide the necessary amount of attacking creativity during the 2018/19 campaign, the former Barnet star would almost definitely be a starter for the Smoggies next season if they can convince him to join.

By sanctioning a move for Lowe when the transfer window opens in July, Gibson could be bringing in a player who can finally take them back to the promise land of the Premier League after two seasons of near misses.

What do you think Boro fans? Should your club swoop for Lowe this summer? Or is there another player you want to see at the Riverside next season? Let us know below.

Leeds fans split on potential signing of Barcelona youngster Rafael Mujica

[ad_pod ]

Leeds United fans on Twitter have been split after Marca reported that a deal to sign Barcelona youngster Rafael Mujica was close.

Mujica is a product of Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, but now aged 20 he is yet to make a first-team appearance for the European giants.

He has played 63 games for the Catalan club’s B team where he has scored just 10 goals, so it has been difficult for certain members of the Leeds fanbase to get excited about his potential arrival.

Other fans though are thrilled about the prospect of bringing in a player who has come through the same academy as Lionel Messi.

The potential signing of a Spanish-speaking striker has had certain supporters comparing Mujica to Luciano Becchio. The Argentine became a cult hero at the club, and boasted a fantastic goalscoring record at Elland Road.

Here’s what Leeds fans have been saying on Twitter…

Ideal replacement: Fabian Schar can cover for the expected loss of Isaac Hayden

[ad_pod ]

Following a candid interview, in which he revealed that he needs to leave the club to be with his partner and their sick daughter, Isaac Hayden is expected to leave Newcastle in the summer after having his wish of a move away denied in January.

Given his amazing performances of late, where he has emerged as one of the first names on Rafa Benitez’s teamsheet, there will be a huge gaping hole where he once stood if he does end up departing St James’ Park.

Who can replace him?

It will be tough to replace a player of Hayden’s quality on the cheap and as we all know, Mike Ashley doesn’t often spend huge sums of cash nor does he enjoy loosening his purse strings.

Has injury cruely robbed Sean Longstaff of a potential England place? The Magpie Channel’s Matty belives he was nailed on in the video below…

Hayden is 24 years of age, English and could easily get better, but given his difficult personal circumstances, it would be unfair to keep hold of him against his will, especially as he has been a model professional throughout the whole situation.

As a result of that, Newcastle should look within their ranks right now to find the answer, and it could well be right before their eyes in Fabian Schar.

Why would he be a capable replacement?

Schar, a £3m bargain summer signing, has been arguably one of the Magpies’ best players this season.

His quality is there for all to see. The Swiss international can pass the ball, dribble with it, time his tackles well and is a dominant presence in the air – all of which are traits that are pivotal parts of Hayden’s game.

If you’re wondering how Rafa Benitez will cope with losing a centre-half to play him in midfield, natural left-back Paul Dummett has excelled in the centre of defence in recent weeks, whilst he also has Jamaal Lascelles and the currently injured Florian Lejeune to choose from.

By making this shrewd move, Benitez can save some cash this summer and allow his team to remain settled.

Granit Xhaka picks Premier League over Europa League

[ad_pod ]

Granit Xhaka has claimed he is willing to forget winning the Europa League if it means Arsenal finish in the top four of the Premier League, per the London Evening Standard.

The Gunners are in the quarter-finals of the competition and face Napoli on Thursday, protecting a 2-0 lead, while they currently sit fourth in the league.

What’s the word?

Arsenal are currently fourth by virtue of goal difference, as they sit level on points with fifth-placed Chelsea, but they do have a game in hand.

Unai Emery’s side are subsequently well-placed to qualify for the Champions League via a top-four finish but they can also achieve qualification by winning the Europa League.

Arsenal won the first leg 2-0 and must simply avoid defeat in Italy to qualify for the semi-finals. The Gunners will play either Villarreal or Valencia in the last four if they get there.

But Xhaka insists that the club’s focus should actually be on the top four instead of Europe.

He said: “I think we want to stay in the top four — we want to be back in the Champions League.

“For me, the Premier League is first and after if you can go to the final and take the Europa League, of course, it is nice as well, but for us it is the Premier League first.

“We are now in fourth place — two points over [Manchester] United, one game less than Chelsea and one point behind Tottenham — and they play against Manchester City this weekend. This can be a big weekend for us.”

Idiocy

Xhaka might not be an idiot but he’s doing a pretty good impression of one with this.

Arsenal do not have the luxury of picking and choosing how they qualify for the Champions League.

They have a difficult Premier League run-in, which includes away games against Wolves, Leicester City and Burnley. Arsenal’s record away from home this season, as has been well publicised, is woeful.

But in the Europa League, Arsenal have done remarkably well to reach the quarter-finals and are just four games away from qualification to the Champions League.

Picking one over the other – particularly when the choice Xhaka has made is as difficult as it can be – is nonsensical.

Arsenal fans had better hope, ahead of Thursday, that no other players have the same attitude as the Swiss.

Embarrassing: Aston Villa fans berate Fulham after relegation

[ad_pod ]

Back in May 2018, a solitary Tom Cairney goal saw Fulham promoted to the Premier League at the expense of Aston Villa.

What followed was the Cottagers spending £100m on players and subsequently being relegated from the division. Villa on the other hand, are right in the mix to be promoted this term.

As a result of Fulham beating the Villans in the play-off final last season, their fans have taken great delight at the London club coming straight back down, reacting on Twitter.

One fan called the club embarrassing whilst another said he enjoyed seeing them relegated.

A certain supporter chose to bring Joe Bryan into the equation, laughing at the fact he decided to join Fulham after making a U-turn from a potential move to Villa Park.

The attack on their play-off final opponents from last year was a savage one but the clubs could end up facing each other again soon unless Dean Smith’s men can find a way to go up.

Fulham were relegated from the Premier League on Tuesday evening following a woeful 4-1 defeat against Watford. It signifies one of the earliest relegations in the history of the division.

Here’s what Villa fans have been saying.

Sead Kolasinac is beyond crucial to a new-look Arsenal

All of you Arsenal fans reading this will be holding their breath in the coming days to see how their players perform on international duty, mainly hoping to see them return to London Colney later this week without any major injuries.

But, supporters and manager Unai Emery will already be a bit worried after Aaron Ramsey missed Wales’ two matches last week and Sead Kolasinac, as well as Sokratis, missed their countries’ respective matches against Armenia and Liechtenstein due to nursing injuries.

Although he is expected to feature for Bosnia this week, Kolasinac has been struggling with a shoulder injury since the Gunners beat Rennes almost two weeks ago to qualify for the Europa League quarterfinals.

Emery, though, will be monitoring Kolasinac’s performance this week and will be hoping to see him fit and ready before Arsenal host Newcastle United at the Emirates this coming Monday. The 25-year-old has been superb for the Gunners this campaign and has been thriving under the management of Emery, who has used him as a left-wing-back for the majority of the season.

Having missed the start of the season due to an ankle injury, Kolasinac surprised many with his aggressive style of playing, both in defence and in attack. Despite being more dangerous on attack, the £18m-rated (as per Transfermarkt) has shown great improvement in his defensive game, which normally is a bit more difficult if playing as a wing-back.

But, he’s showed great resilience and determination to test himself against some of the best players in the league and he’s handled those type of players with good success.

Arsenal also seem to be a lot more threatening in attack when Kolasinac presses up the pitch and his linkup play with Alex Iwobi on the left flank has reaped a lot of success for the club due to the width the pair attacks with. If the Gunners are to secure a spot in next season’s Champions League then the manager will need Kolasinac to stay fit and injury free for the remainder of the season.
