West Ham dealt En-Nesyri transfer blow

West Ham United have been dealt a transfer blow in their pursuit of Youssef En-Nesyri as 90min have reported that Sevilla are set to offer him a new deal.

The London Stadium faithful had reportedly tabled an offer for the Morocco international worth €35m (£30.3m), and the East London club also made an enquiry to sign him in the January transfer window.

However, the La Liga side are set to offer him a new contract and thus reject any interest from the Premier League, or at least drive the price way up if he is to leave.

Sevilla immediately rebuffed advances from David Moyes’ team to sign him in January when they registered their interest, with the Spanish club now keen to agree a fresh new deal with a big pay rise.

Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan are also taking an interest in his current situation, and both Liverpool and Manchester United have been informed.

En-Nesyri would be an ideal signing for West Ham

Given that the Hammers are really lacking in sufficient back-up to Michail Antonio, En-Nesyri would be an ideal signing for them.

The striker has scored no fewer than 17 goals in total over all competitions so far in the 2020/21 term, including four in the UEFA Champions League (Transfermarkt).

However, it looks as if a move from the Irons is increasingly unlikely given the hopes of Sevilla that the 23-year-old will sign a new deal.

West Ham fans slam McCarthy interest

According to the Daily Mail, West Ham United are among a host of clubs keeping tabs on Crystal Palace midfielder James McCarthy ahead of a potential summer move – with the Irishman out of contract at the end of this season.

McCarthy is still to discuss a new deal at Selhurst Park, leading to many sides including West Ham taking an interest in snapping up the 30-year-old as they keep close eye on developments across London.

Starting just five Premier League games this season (WhoScored), it’s difficult to see what he could add for the Irons given their needs don’t really lie in central midfield, but up front.

Erupting at GSB’s alleged transfer plan, as relayed by West Ham News, many Irons flocked to have their say on what they believe to be an awful potential move – find all of their verdicts from social media down below, where one supporter said the move would be “shocking”.

Pep Guardiola can bring end to striker nightmare by signing Erling Haaland

Manchester City continue to be linked with Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland and the 20-year-old wonderkid can be the man to solve a big problem for Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

The Citizens look set to lose legendary striker Sergio Aguero in the summer when his contract expires, although injury problems in recent seasons have suggested that he is no longer the threat he once was.

City have kept faith in Gabriel Jesus in recent seasons, perhaps in the hope that the Brazilian could become Aguero’s natural successor, but his goal return this season, in particular, has been nowhere near good enough.

The 23-year-old has just three goals in 10 appearances in all competitions this season, whilst he has failed to find the back of the net in any of City’s last five games in the Premier League.

In the Citizens’ most recent game with West Bromwich Albion, in a game where Guardiola’s side created a whole host of chances, Jesus failed to register a single shot on target, which again emphasises his lack of predatory instinct.

Therefore, it could definitely be argued that City would be a lot more free-scoring if they were able to sign a natural goalscorer such as Haaland, as they are currently underperforming when it comes to the number of goals they have scored in relation to their ‘expected goal’ tally.

Since joining Dortmund from RB Salzburg, the Norwegian international has featured 32 times for the Black and Yellows, in which he has contributed an incredible 33 goals and six assists.

The prolific 20-year-old is likely to attract interest from the majority of Europe’s elite, but if City can secure his signing, he would surely help them become a lot more clinical in front of goal.

Haaland’s old teammate, Maximilian Wober, was full of praise for the young striker after he scored a hattrick on his Champions League debut back in 2019, saying:

“He is phenomenal. With his height, to be so nimble and have such command of the ball. It’s really hard to play against him in training – you just have to foul him. Once again he proved why he’s definitely going to become one of the best strikers in the world.”

Therefore, perhaps the £90 million rated star can be the man to bring an end to what has been something of a nightmare for Guardiola with Jesus at City in recent times, with the Brazilian nowhere near the level he needs to be when it comes to scoring goals for the Citizens.

Man City: Guardiola must unleash Rodri to nullify Bruno Fernandes’ threat

Manchester City return to Premier League action with a game against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday, and Pep Guardiola can give the Citizens a much better chance if he restores Rodri to his starting line up.

The Spanish midfielder was left out of the squad that comfortably beat Marseille 3-0 on Wednesday, but it seems as if that was a minor fitness issue, so it would be a surprise to not see him make the squad that travels to Old Trafford.

So far this season, the 24-year-old has made 10 appearances in the Premier League, averaging a very solid 6.91 rating, suggesting that he has been a big part of City’s impressive defensive record in recent weeks.

Guardiola’s side have kept eight clean sheets in their last ten fixtures in all competitions and will be hoping for a similarly impressive defensive display when they travel to Old Trafford, especially with United having gotten the better of City in recent seasons under Solskjaer.

If City unleash Rodri in a defensive midfield role against United, then perhaps he could be the man to stop Bruno Fernandes, with the Portuguese midfielder undoubtedly the danger man ahead of the derby, when you consider his incredible start to the season.

In 10 appearances in the Premier League, the former Sporting Lisbon man has contributed an impressive seven goals and four assists, resulting in an average rating of 7.65.

This is enough to see him ranked as the fifth-best player in the top-flight so far this season, suggesting that if City can keep him quiet on Saturday, they give themselves a great chance of winning the game.

However, Rodri, who is valued at £57.6 million by Transfermarkt, has shown on occasions this season that he can bully opposition attackers out of the game using his height and strength, so if he sticks to the Portuguese attacker during the game, perhaps he can prevent him from having much influence.

Back in 2019, Guardiola was full of praise for the Spanish international, saying:

“Rodri was incredible today. We knew it but today I can assure you we have an incredible holding midfielder for the next decade or at least the years he will be here with a contract.”

Therefore, it seems clear that he is highly rated by the City manager, and if he is fit, he should definitely start at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Worse than Barker: Glasgow Rangers dodged a bullet in one-time target Isaac Atanga

Glasgow Rangers dodged a bullet by not signing FC Nordsjaelland forward Isaac Atanga, after it emerged that Ross Wilson had expressed an interest in signing the former uncapped Ghana U20 international in the summer.

What was the story?

According to Ghanaian outlet Kickgh.com, Steven Gerrard’s side were interested in signing the right winger, who can also be deployed as a forward or on the left wing.

It’s claimed that the Gers had even held talks with the Tigers, although Atanga had also attracted attention from several top European clubs including Alaves, Anderlecht, Club Brugge and Feyenoord, meaning they would have had to battle it out to land the 20-year-old’s services.

Nordsjaelland had reportedly slapped a €9m (£8m) asking price on his head, which would have been a rather expensive pill for Rangers to swallow, as you are about to find out.

Worse than Brandon Barker!

The Ibrox outfit were ready to raid the Danish top flight for Atanga after he struck seven goals and supplied five assists in 35 games in all competitions last season.

Belgian side Brugge were also monitoring the one-time Gers target at one stage, but it appears they cooled their interest whilst Nordsjaelland rebuffed interest from elsewhere as they held firm on their initial asking price and a move failed to materialise in the summer.

However, Gerrard appears to have dodged a bullet, given Atanga’s struggles in the 2020/21 season so far. It’s fair to say that the goals have started to dry up for the young Ghanaian, as he has failed to find the back of the net in the Superligaen since the 1-1 draw with Odense BK back in September.

Meanwhile, Brandon Barker, who’s playing time has been limited in the Scottish Premiership (30% minutes) this season so far, and has mostly appeared as a substitute for that matter, has scored one goal in seven games in the top flight, via Transfermarkt.

By comparison, Atanga, who has featured regularly for the Tigers (72% minutes), has also only scored once in seven league appearances, although this shows that he has a far worse minutes-to-goals ratio than the 24-year-old at the time of writing.

Once praised for his “great start” by Flemming Pedersen last term, the attacking midfielder has struggled for consistency this season, as he started the first three fixtures in a row, before he was benched for the 4-1 win over FC Midtjylland, making a brief cameo as a substitute, which will give the Gers plenty of reasons why they must avoid him at all costs. After all, the last thing they need is another misfiring forward.

When you consider the fact that the £1.8m-rated ace is still largely unproven at the top levels of the game, you do have to wonder why Wilson was ever even interested in him in the first place.

Aston Villa’s £20m target Marko Grujic would be an instant upgrade

Aston Villa have been told how much they’ll have to pay for one of their mooted summer targets this week, and Dean Smith would be wise to get the wallet out if he is to land a potential upgrade…

What’s the word?

According to Goal, Liverpool are aiming to offload up to ten fringe players as Jurgen Klopp looks to trim his first-team squad for the new campaign, one of which is Marko Grujic, who the Reds want around £20m for.

The same source revealed Villa’s interest last month, claiming the Midlands outfit ‘have discussed the possibility of a deal’ but at the time, Bournemouth’s Philip Billing was the more likely option.

Grujic’s recent loan club Hertha Berlin are also keen to bring him back to Germany after featuring over 50 times during across two seasons.

Anchor upgrade

The Villans would be wise to stump up those eight-figures to clinch the Serbian international as it’s evident that he’d be an instant upgrade to the defensive midfield department.

Smith currently has Douglas Luiz and Marvelous Nakamba in the role, but neither player performed as well as Grujic last season and that was amongst a considerably better Hertha side.

Per WhoScored, the 24-year-old averaged more aerials won (3.4), clearances (2.3), tackles (1.9), shots (1.2) and dribbles (1) per game in the Bundesliga than either defensive midfielder managed for Smith last season.

Grujic has been compared to fellow countryman Nemanja Matic in the past, but more recently a link to Bayern’s Leon Goretzka has emerged as the midfielder is “tall, rangy, comfortable on the ball and with a good range of passing.”

Ex-Hertha coach Pal Dardai described the Reds ace as “by far the best midfielder I’ve seen in my time at the club” – he was there for over 22 years – whilst Jurgen Klopp labelled him “outstanding” before tipping him for a “big future,” so perhaps it’s a surprise not to see him break into the first-team at Anfield.

At just £20m, this move simply seems like a no-brainer and one that Smith should absolutely pull the trigger on.

Manchester United: Fans devastated as Red Devils interested in Monaco left-back Fodé Ballo-Touré

Manchester United will change their transfer strategy if they can’t sign Jadon Sancho this summer.

According to Duncan Castles, quoted by @ManUnitedZone_, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will turn their attention to signing a new left-back instead.

Sancho remains United’s top target but the Red Devils are having difficulties dealing with Borussia Dortmund’s demands.

If they can’t get what they want, Castles claims Solskjaer will look to strengthen the defence.

Speaking to The Transfer Window podcast, the transfer expert revealed Man United are interested in Monaco left-back Fodé Ballo-Touré.

It is understood that the Red Devils want to sign a full-back who will be backup for Luke Shaw. Brandon Williams will then be moved to cover for Aaron Wan-Bissaka on the right flank.

The 23-year-old played 21 games in Ligue 1 last term, making 1.7 tackles per game, averaging 1.1 interceptions, and completing 1.7 clearances on average, although he failed to register a single goal or assist via WhoScored.

Despite his best efforts, the Frenchman received a lower WhoScored rating than both Shaw and Williams.

A strong dribbler, he still needs to work on his passing ability and levels of concentration before he can be taken seriously.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, loads of United fans slammed “another Mendy” on social media in reference to Manchester City’s Benjamin Mendy, who also came from Ligue 1 but has been criticised for his own lapses in concentration, a trait he seemingly shares with Ballo-Toure.

Meanwhile another added “respect Ethan Laird,” – the academy graduate has impressed with the reserves this season but could find his chances limited if the club sign Ballo-Toure as well.

Scroll through some of the scathing reactions so far…

Voltou e ainda trouxe contigo o Botafogo para a elite do futebol nacional.

Parabéns, Ricardo! Obrigado por voltar!
